Home Automation

CommTech home automation refers to the use of computer and information technology to control home appliances and features (such as appliances or lighting). As the number of controllable devices in the home rises, interconnection and communication becomes a useful and desirable feature. Rooms will become “intelligent” and will send signals to the controller when someone enters. If no one is supposed to be home and the alarm system is set, the system could call the owner, or the neighbors, or an emergency number. Home automation can also provide a remote interface to home appliances or the automation system itself, via telephone line, wireless transmission or the internet, to provide control and monitoring via a smartphone or web browser. In terms of lighting control, it is possible to save energy when installing various products. Simple functions such as motion sensors and detectors integrated into a relatively simple home automation system can save hours of wasted energy in both residential and commercial applications.

What is a Smart Home? Imagine being able to easily control every aspect of your house at the touch of a button. Home automation technology can allow you to have one aspect or all aspects of your home fully automated. Think of one control for all of your home theater, automated lighting, climate control in every room, and an alarm system you never have to worry about. CommTech can help you make your home a Smart Home today.

When creating a Smart Home, there are many subsystems to consider. Everything including audio, video, heating, air-conditioning, alarms, surveillance, motorized shades, lighting, sprinklers, even pool and spa control, can go into making a fully automated and customized Smart Home. The key to truly successful Smart Home Automation is employing one reliable system that integrates all the elements of your home in an easy-to-navigate interface.

Home Theatre

A CommTech home theater or home theatre is a theater built in a home, designed to mimic (or exceed) commercial theater performance and feeling. A “home theater in a box” (HTIB) is an integrated home theater package which “bundles” together a combination DVD or Blu-Ray player/ multi-channel amplifier (which includes a surround sound decoder, a radio tuner, and other features), speaker wires, connection cables, a remote control, a set of five or more surround sound speakers (or more rarely, just left and right speakers) and a low-frequency subwoofer.

With the advances in front projection technology, a large format theater can be brought home at a price never before possible. With THX quality sound, the highest resolution HDTV projectors, and large screens you can start enjoying your favorite films in style in the comfort of your own home.

Pre-Wire

Pre-Wiring a new house for technology is one of the most important stages of building a new house. We will help you make the correct decision about what to include in your pre-wire to “future-proof” your house. With all the changes in video technology, CommTech ensures that your space is pre-wired for maximum flexibility throughout, no matter what systems you want immediately or may want down the road.

Multi Room Audio

Whole House Audio (distributed audio) systems are audio systems that allow for playback and (often) control of music throughout an entire home. Whole house audio systems can be classified as: Single source / Single zone, Single source / multiple zones or multiple sources / multiple zones.

Single source / Single zone: These systems distribute the same audio source everywhere—individual rooms must listen to the same audio source.

Single source / Multiple Zones: These systems use separate volume controls, usually installed in each room or zone to compensate for differences in apparent volume due to room size and shape. Here especially, impedance-matching volume controls can be used to protect the amplifier from overload. This system design is otherwise the same as a single source, single zone in that all zones must listen to the same audio source, though volume control is independent in each room (and audio can be turned off in rooms, as desired).

Multiple source / Multiple Zones: These systems are the most advanced and flexible ones. Different zones can select (and often control) different audio sources independently of other rooms. This kind of system could be assembled from separate input components.

Classroom Solutions

Classrooms equipped with sound reinforcement solutions benefit teachers, students, and the education system as a whole. With even sound distribution, lessons are easily heard no matter where students are seated. Attention and concentration are raised, especially in the back of the room. Teachers no longer strain their voices and the system can easily integrate with existing or new in-classroom multimedia teaching tools such as computers, projectors and Smartboards for a single source audio control. The system additionally provides priority paging and emergency notification capabilities that fulfill the needs of any education facility.

Clock Systems

Synchronized clocks eliminate time disputes, keep meetings on time, and standardize breaks to improve productivity. Continuously synchronized time helps to remove confusion, inaccuracies and excuses in your business and eliminate time wasted maintaining clocks. With synchronized clocks, every clock is accurate to the millisecond. Wireless correction gets rid of the hassles and costs of pre-wiring a facility. And with multiple time sources available (computer, GPS, WWVB) you have complete flexibility for any environment.

Conference Rooms

Audio Visual System (AVS) enable clients to communicate, educate and innovate more efficiently by simplifying AV technology for meeting rooms, conference rooms and training rooms. Users enjoy simplified connectivity through conveniently located input panels, ease of operation with centralized control of all AV equipment and improved communication with digital audio and video technology.

Benefits

  • Faster installation – Pre-designed systems save design / engineering time and enable CommTech to stock the equipment so the system is installed sooner.
  • More cost effective – The design, engineering and custom programming are already done so you simply pay for the equipment and installation services.
  • Proven solutions – Installed at numerous client sites, these systems are reliable and easy to use.

Digital Signage

Digital Signs are used in wayfinding, placemaking, exhibitions, public installations, marketing and outdoor advertising.

Digital signs use technologies such as LCD, LED and Projection to display content such as digital images, video, streaming media, and information and can be found in public spaces, transportation systems, museums, stadiums, retail stores, hotels, restaurants, and corporate buildings etc.

Digital signage displays use content management systems and digital media distribution systems which can either be run from personal computers and servers or regional/national media hosting providers.

Digital signage has gained wide acceptance as a viable alternative to static signage, due largely in part to the ease and frequency with which it may be updated. Not only this, but ever increasing interactive technologies, such as embedded touchscreens, movement detection, and image capture devices, allow these signs to understand just who is interacting with them and how that interaction occurs.

Intercom/Paging

If you see the need or benefit to communicate with others in a different part of your house or business, you may need an intercom/paging system.  This allows for easy communication between two or more parties with the touch of a button.  CommTech can provide installation, repair, and maintenance services on these systems. CommTech may also have the ability to relate this to other equipment such as video security systems, door entry systems, bell systems, and public address (PA) systems. Our intercom/paging systems provide you with the flexibility to create the system you need at a price your business can afford.  A quick consultation with CommTech’s industry experts will enable you to determine which of our intercom/paging system is the right fit for your business.  We can assure you that not all intercom/paging systems are the same, so it’s worth your time to compare.

Music on Hold

Music On Hold is the playing of music, messages, or both while the customer is on hold. A business gets busy – you may not be able to take all calls as they come in, inevitably resulting in some customers having to wait on the line. If these customers grow restless and hang up, they may never call back, or they may stay on the line and be impatient or irate once the call is answered. Preclude this from happening with Music On Hold. According to a survey conducted by AT&T, customers reported that a wait time with music felt half as long as it actually was, whereas a wait unaccompanied by anything felt three times longer than what it was. Don’t lose customers unnecessarily! With many different options for music sources/custom messages and solutions for playing them over the phone line, Music On Hold is an easy remedy for the ‘waiting blues’!

Have CommTech install a professional speaker system, then find the exact sound that represents your business/clientele, and start shaping your environment today!

Sound Masking

Space is at a premium; too many people, not enough places to put them. This is no exception in the business world, and offices must be designed accordingly. Sometimes the space you have to work in is very tight indeed. Depending on how the office is set up, this can cause problems of distraction for your employees, as everyone can here everyone else’s conversations. If those conversations are meant to stay between only the people actively participating in them, then you have issues with privacy as well. However, you can’t just spread everyone to the far corners of the world, er, office. A sound masking system is what you need. Through ceiling-mounted, upwards-firing speakers, the system raises the ambient noise levels around the office such that people can no longer hear every word said by someone on the other side of the room. Sound masking produces unobtrusive soft noise that isn’t even really noticeable, other than the fact that now the radius of conversation has been drastically reduced. It has the same effect as tripling the distance between employees. If you find yourself having problems with noise distractions or privacy issues in a small space, contact CommTech to find out if a sound masking system could be the right solution for you.

TV Distribution

Are you trying to update your home or business with televisions, but not really sure where to begin (or end, for that matter)? It can be a little overwhelming taking into consideration what kind of TV would look best where, which features you want and which you don’t really care for, and then successfully combining those two lists for a final decision. Leave the details to the professionals! Our technicians know the answers to questions of placement, and they can help you understand how the features and specifications of various televisions work so you can get a better grasp on what exactly you want out of your new TVs.
